Celebrating Administrative Professionals’ Day 2017 with One of the Best

Apr. 26, 2017 Staffing News

Today is a day to celebrate our unsung heroes of the office. The people who can and do help everyone in a pinch. Yes, we’re talking about administrative assistants! Every year Administrative Professionals’ Day falls on the Wednesday of the last full week in April.

Did You Know: A Short History of Administrative Professionals’ Day

Originally, Administrative Professionals’ Day was National Secretaries Day, organized in 1952 by the US Department of Commerce. The key figures behind the holiday were the president of the National Secretaries Association, Mary Barrett, the president of the Dictaphone Corporation, C. King Woodbridge, and public relations account executives at Young & Rubicam, Harry F. Klemfuss and Daren Ball.

As years went by, National Secretaries Association changed their name to the International Association of Administrative Professionals in 1998. This name change, and the goal of encompassing the expanding responsibilities and range of job titles of admin support staff were what led to what we now know as Administrative Professionals’ Day.

How We’re Celebrating Admin Day

As many of you know, our business was built on staffing administrative support professionals since we were founded 38 years ago… so we hold Administrative Professionals’ Day close to our hearts.

This year, we didn’t just want to talk about how great admins are. Instead, we are featuring one of our many amazing administrative contractors, Elisa Raney, who is currently on assignment at Adaptive Biotechnologies.

Elisa spends her days supporting two Senior Vice Presidents and the entire Diagnostics team at Adaptive Biotechnologies with everything from calendar management to travel and meeting arrangements… but that’s not all. Elisa’s experience with social ventures and non-profit work allows her to be creative, offering a unique perspective to problem solving; this is something Lanny Kirsch, MD – one of the SVPs Elisa directly supports – says he appreciates as she continues to go above and beyond the expectations of her team.

We encourage you to watch the video below to hear more about Elisa and what makes her extraordinary.
