After an EXTREMELY close ball game with arch rivals NW Eyeballers (who beat us in the championship game just last year)… the Parker Headhunters are headed into the final round of the Seattle Parks and Recreation softball league championship - for the second year in a row!
After being down by 2 halfway through the game, Parker’s smart hitting, solid pitching and tight defense led us to an 8-8 tie going into the top of the last inning of play. We held the Eyeballers big bats to just one run and headed into the bottom of the inning down 9-8.
Heads up base running by Brian Evans and Debbie Crandall (who capitalized on a fielding error by the Eyeballers pitcher) put the tying and winning runs on base. Headhunters mainstay Derek Conom drove Brian home with a single to right field and Whitney Hanna advanced the runners with another single, placing Debbie in scoring position with one out.
Next up to the plate was mid-season addition Dave Hawkins who knocked a deep sacrifice fly to center and Debbie bolted home to score the game winning run!! Chaos erupted and the Headunters are headed back to the finals!
