New office update!

Monday, August 30th, 2010

We are officially moved out of our old building and already enjoying the perks of our new office space. One of the best features about 818 Stewart is the “Great Room” area and its multi-functional workspaces.

This morning I enjoyed a stellar Americano from Dilettante Mocha, set up camp at a large table and was up and running withing 5 minutes!

Treehouse drop offs!

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Yesterday Treehouse posted this picture on their Facebook page of their dwindling stock of backpacks.

The Parker team swung into action and hit up Old Navy to stock up on backpacks (on sale for $7 each!) to add to the donations we’ve already collected. We were able to drop everything off today and plan on making a second shopping trip this Thursday to add more items! Treehouse was ecstatic to see our backpacks and were going to get them out on the floor for kids ASAP.

Back to school clothes!

Giving always feels great but when you have the opportunity to see the immediate impact you can have, it’s truly humbling. Thanks to Treehouse for the amazing work you continue to do for children in foster care and thanks to the Parker staff for making this drive a success!

Our new home: Denny Triangle

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

While we absolutely loved our time in the International District, we’re really excited to immerse ourselves in the Denny Triangle neighborhood. Lot of things happening there!

In addition to our on-site facilities (conference room, flexible work spaces) 818 Stewart is situated steps away from restaurants, hotels, public transportation, the Washington State Convention Center, and amazing organizations like Fare Start.

Welcome to Parker, Jeannette Oliver

We are pleased to welcome a new Sr. Recruiter for our Staffing team, Jeannette Oliver.

Jeannette’s background has her working as a branch manager through a national staffing firm, so she will bring a high level of customer service and candidate generation to our staffing team, as well as add about 10 years of recruiting experience right off the bat!

We’re excited to have her on board!

One of the more striking features our our new office building is the sign above the building entrance.

I did a little digging and learned that this sign was the work of Creo Industrial Arts a premier fabricator of environmental graphics and custom architectural signage located in Everett, WA. Check out their online portfolio for more examples of their amazing work!

Welcome to the new home of Parker Staffing Services.

We are excited to announce that Parker is moving our offices to the gorgeous 818 Stewart building located in the bustling Westlake/Denny Triangle district of downtown Seattle.

818 Stewart Street

Our new space was selected to accommodate both our evolving internal business needs but also to offer additional conveniences to our clients and contractors.

The facility encompasses a collaborative, engaging and high tech work environment including an amazing “great room” and conference center.

818 Stewart also offers us the opportunity to further expand on areas we at Parker truly love: providing resources to our client and contractor communities - forums, best practice sessions, discussion groups, keynote speakers, etc.

Look for more to come over the next several months as we announce upcoming events and activities designed with our community in mind.

We also invite you to return to our home page www.parkerservices.com to take look at our new website. We’re also interested in your thoughts on our new site so check out the survey link! Thanks!

Welcome Silvia van Dooren- not only to Parker, but to Seattle as well!

Silvia grew up in the Netherlands and has spent this past year living in Vancouver, Canada. She and her husband recently moved to Seattle with their 6 month old son. She is working part time as an online editor and is enjoying all the advantages of working from home as a new mom. She loves cooking, history and hiking- which are all good things to explore here in Seattle.

Welcome, Silvia!

Parker Technical does TechFlash!

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

Our technical team recently attended TechFlash’s annual summer barbecue and ping pong/foosball tournament at The Showbox – SODO

Parker’s own Scot Baker and Sharalee Pfau were entered into the foosball tournament and were there with their game faces on!

Scot Baker and Sharalee Pfau

Intense competition

Here’s the lowdown from Parker Tech’s Sr. Sourcing Specialist, Kathy Akers.

“We arrived just in time to see the teams starting to warm up.  It was quickly obvious that we chose the right sport by staying out of the ping pong bracket, as there were semi professional teams there.   After Baker and Pfau were eliminated in the first round of foosball, we all dined on delicious barbecue and networked with the other folks there.    Even for the casual, garage ping pong player, the tournament was amazing to watch.  The players in the semi pro brackets made it look easy, and Kim eventually took home the trophy.  All in all, a great evening with the team.”

Back to school with Parker and Treehouse!

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Since 1988, Treehouse has filled the gaps for kids in foster care, providing services that no other agency addresses: money for extra-curricular activities and summer camp, professional educational support services, resources to fully participate in the everyday activities of growing up, clothing and supplies to help them fit in at school.

That’s why Parker Staffing is once again hosting a Back-to-School donation drive! Our donation drive will help Treehouse give foster kids new clothes, backpacks, school supplies, tutoring, school pictures, field trips and more as they return to school this fall.

Last year we collected over 800 items and want to beat that goal this year!

Just a fraction of last year's haul!

Here’s how to help:

  • Purchase new items for Treehouse kids (girls and boys, ages 5-17)
    • New Outfit from Head-to-Toe

  • You’re done! :-)
